Angelina Greco’s Introduction Blog

Hello everyone! My name is Angelina Greco and I am a Business Administration major here at North Carolina State University concentrating in Human Resources. After graduation, I am hoping to get a job as a Human Resources specialist or representative so that I can eventually work my way up to working as a Human Resources Manager at a corporate level company somewhere here in Raleigh, North Carolina. I have lived in the Raleigh area my entire life, and I love it here!

My relationship with writing is a bit complicated at the moment. I keep a journal, and I enjoy writing in it daily because I can write whatever I want without really having to worry about how it sounds or whether or not it makes sense. However, I am not as enthusiastic about professional writing because I feel as though there are so many rules that must be followed when writing in a professional setting. That is the main reason that I am excited to be taking this class this semester, as I am hoping that taking a class that requires me to dive deeper into professional writing will help me to learn the best way to approach it. I am also hoping that by taking this class, I will be able to increase my confidence when it comes to writing in a professional setting.

My professional experience is limited mostly to retail jobs. I began working at Banana Republic Factory Store in Smithfield, NC when I was 16 years old. I worked there for 4 years, and eventually worked my way up to a part time management position. Unfortunately, our store closed permanently this past August, and I had to move on from Banana Republic. I have also held a work study position while I was a student at Johnston Community College where I worked as a student worker in the library on campus. I enjoyed that job because it was very different from the retail setting that I was used to, and it also had a more professional feel than retail did. Currently, I am working as a Stow Associate at the Amazon Fulfillment Center in Garner, North Carolina. I like this job because there is always opportunity for growth at a company as large as Amazon is. I have been looking into internship options through the Human Resources department at Amazon, and I am hoping to possibly grow with that company once I graduate.

I wouldn’t say that I get to exercise my creativity as often as I would like to, but I do keep a journal that I write in daily. I like to recap my day and work through any thoughts or feelings that I had that day. I also enjoy drawing and coloring in adult coloring books when I have the time to do so. When I was in high school, I did recreational dance outside of school, and I loved doing that, but I don’t have the time for it now between work and school.

My personality type, according to the test, is ISFJ. I think that the test was pretty accurate for me, as I do approach most things with great caution. I am also a big people pleaser (sometimes to a fault) and I am constantly considering how my actions are going to affect the thoughts and feelings of those around me. I am also very organized with most things that I do, and I get a sense of pride out of keeping things organized and easy to access. I would say that the personality test was pretty spot on for me personally. I think that taking the test was very beneficial for me because it has helped me to better understand why I do some things the way that I do.

My main goal for this course is to improve my professional writing skills, as well as gain a better sense of confidence in my professional writing skills. I am looking forward to a great semester with everyone!

  1. Hi Angelina, it is nice to meet you! I am also a business administration major here in NC State, and I am concentrating in marketing. I’m taking a human resources class right now and it seems really interesting. Perhaps I will end up there (who knows). I think it is so cool that you have so much work experience under your belt. You were going to be very prepared for the professional world. I hope the Amazon job continues to work for you and that you are able to move up when you graduate. I know based off your post you will do quite well. We have a very similar personality type, the only difference is the second letter as I am an N rather than an S. I also don’t see myself enjoying professional writing as much as creative writing, but I know it will be useful and more enjoyable than other career requirements. I hope you have a great semester, and that you are able to develop your writing skills for both creative and professional settings.

  2. Hello Angelina! Very nice to meet you. It is very nice to see someone who has a career path be very clear. I am currently struggling trying to decide what I want to do with my life after school. I too have worked retail for many, many years, so I at least know I do not want to stay there for the longevity of my career.
